Grey Hairs are Nottingham’s premier “midlife crisis rock band” - described as “Pissed Jeans ripping off Status Quo” and featuring members of Kogumaza, Fists and Fonda 500.

At the Gringo Records 15th Anniversary festival at Nottingham Contemporary in June 2012 Grey Hairs kicked proceedings off with a characteristically face-melting, chaotic, explosively thrilling set. The climax of the band’s set was a cover of Harry Nilsson’s epic, cathartic wig-out, Jump Into The Fire.

There were two members of the Hello Thor Records team at that gig. Unfortunately one of us arrived too late to see Grey Hairs play and the other had drunk too much wine to remember it. Which is a shame, because we love that song. And Harry Nilsson. And Grey Hairs, for that matter.

So, when Grey Hairs mentioned that they'd not only recorded a version of Jump Into The Fire but also a cover of Coconut, we jumped at the chance to release it.

Since forming at the end of 2011 Grey Hairs have played with bands including Obits, Shield Your Eyes, Joeyfat, Six By Seven, Flipper and Eagulls, and wowed crowds at festivals such as Supernormal, Dot To Dot and Supersonic. The band’s debut three track 7”, Grey Hairs, was released on Gringo Records in 2013 and they have been releasing albums and touring with the likes of Sleaford Mods since.
Grey Hairs

Grey Hairs’ carefree brand of punk rock is informed by the likes of Black Flag, R.Stevie Moore, Nirvana, Pere Ubu, The Breeders, Stickmen With Ray Guns, Status Quo, The Wipers, Scratch Acid and The X Rays. And Harry Nilsson, naturally.

Grey Hairs is The Cup (vocals), Neck (guitar), Mum (bass) and Leg (drums).
